Kier has been selected by joint developers Stanhope, Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo to build 142 new affordable homes for housing association Peabody in two new buildings called Macfarlane Place.
Construction of Macfarlane Place will start in March 2022 with delivery expected in early 2024.
Designed by Maccreanor Lavington Architects, the new buildings will replace the now demolished former BBC multi-storey car park on Wood Lane W12, opposite a Westfield shopping mall. They form part of the wider 14-acre, 拢600m Television Centre development, which will eventually have approximately 950 homes in total. Stanhope is the development manager for Television Centre and Cantillon was the demolition contractor for the multi-storey car park.
Office buildings on the Television Centre development include 1 Wood Crescent, a nine-storey building (10 including basement) with 111,765 sq ft of office space, designed by architect Morris & Company. Laing O鈥橰ourke started construction of 1 Wood Crescent in January 2021 under a 拢60m contract and is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2023. [See our previous report here.]
