Under the two-year contract Skanska will deliver mechanical and electrical shell, core and fit-out works for 866 residential apartments of Circus West. The apartments are spread across two buildings just west of the old power station itself and include a large communal basement and podium areas.
Work will start in September 2014 and is scheduled to complete in October 2016.
Carillion won the 拢400m main contract for the first phase in May 2013. Circus West (to the right of the chimneys in the image below) is designed by Ian Simpson Architects and de Rijke Marsh Morgan (dRMM). The main block will vary in height from eight storeys at its southern end, rising to 18 storeys and then reducing to 12 storeys at its northern end. The second block will be eight storeys high.
The Battersea Power Station development site is owned by a Malaysian consortium of SP Setia, Sime Darby Property and Employees' Provident Fund.聽 The development is being managed by the Battersea Power Station Development Company. There are plans for the overall 39-acre development to have 3,500 new homes eventually.
